The University of Iowa has hired the Kansas City law firm Husch Blackwell to conduct an independent review of issues and allegations relating to racial disparities within the football program. The review will include interviews with former and current players as well as each of the coaches and staff members. The firm, which has extensive experience in higher education, will report its findings to Carroll Reasoner, UI vice president for legal affairs and general counsel.

Legal services are excluded from the Board of Regent’s delegation of purchasing authority. Referencing State Code 681 IAC 8.2(3), legal services must be approved by the Board of Regents. https://www.legis.iowa.gov/docs/aco/chapter/681.8.pdf
